EARLY BETA

Find your people
for the summer.

Cohort is students only. Verify your school email to join, tell us where you're interning, and match with people in your city for the summer.

A .edu address is the only way in — Cohort is students only. Your 6-digit code can land in spam, so check there.

This is an early beta. Things may change or break, and data may be reset. Cohort makes introductions only — never send money or deposits to anyone you meet here, and see any place in person first.

Contact info stays hidden until you both match.

Terms & Safety

Staying safe

  • You must be 18 or older to use Cohort.
  • Never send money, deposits, or payment to anyone you meet here. Cohort never handles money and will never ask you to. Anyone asking for a deposit before you've seen a place in person is likely a scam.
  • Meet new people in public places first, and tell a friend where you're going.
  • See an apartment in person (or video tour) before committing to anything.
  • Verifying a school email confirms a person controls that email — it doesn't guarantee anything else. Use your own judgment.
  • Use Report and Block (in any chat or profile) if someone makes you uncomfortable.

This is an early beta

Cohort is a work in progress, provided free and “as is” for testing. Features may change or break, and data may be reset. By using it you accept that it’s unfinished and that you use it at your own risk.

The important parts

  • Introductions only. Cohort helps people find and message each other. We are not part of any sublet, lease or roommate arrangement, and we never handle money, deposits or payments. Anything you arrange is between you and the other person.
  • Never send money through or because of Cohort. Don’t send deposits or payments to someone you met here. See any place in person first, and meet new people somewhere public.
  • You’re responsible for your own safety and decisions. We don’t run background checks. Verifying a school email only confirms someone controls that email — nothing more.
  • Conduct. No harassment, threats, impersonation, spam, or illegal, hateful or sexual content. We can remove content or accounts at our discretion. Use Report or Block if someone bothers you.
  • As-is. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cohort is not liable for interactions between users, for any housing arrangement, or for any loss, injury or damage arising from use of this beta. Provided without warranties of any kind.
  • Your data. We store what you enter — profile, photo, messages, listings — to run the service. Contact details are shared with someone else only after you both match. You can delete your account and all of your data at any time from the You tab.
  • Changes. We may change or shut down the beta at any time. You can stop using it whenever you like.
  • Questions or problems: marrbenn@msu.edu

Who Cohort is for

  • Cohort is for currently enrolled students. Undergraduate and graduate student accounts require that you are enrolled at the school your email belongs to.
  • School email addresses often keep working after graduation. If you have graduated, you must select Alumni when you sign up. Alumni can post a housing listing and reply to students who contact them, but cannot browse students or message first.
  • Your account type and class year must be accurate. Misrepresenting either — including keeping a student account after you have graduated — is a violation of these terms and is grounds for removal from Cohort without notice.
  • We cannot automatically verify enrollment. We rely on you being honest, and on students reporting accounts that aren't.

The basics

Cohort connects students and interns to meet people and find housing for a season. We're an introduction service only — we are not a party to any housing arrangement, lease, or sublet, and we don't handle payments or deposits. You're responsible for your own agreements and for meeting people safely.

We store the info you provide (email, profile, photo, messages) to run the service. Contact details are shared with someone only after you both match. You can request deletion of your account anytime.

This is a starter summary, not full legal terms — full Terms of Service and Privacy Policy will be linked here before public launch.

Cohort never handles deposits. Arrange leases & payments directly, after you've met.

Never accept deposits or payment through Cohort, and warn others not to send money before seeing a place in person.
